Little things

The new house is a walking distance from India's creche. It makes such a difference to our commute in the morning. Milja will probably start driving to school, which is a big help. She has been practicing driving with both our cars. She and Dan are both good drivers.

Our alarm system has been playing up, and the alarm has gone off many times per day/night since it was checked by the engineer. He'll be checking the system again today. Let's hope he'll fix the problem and not make it worse.

Clifford (the guy who lived in the house before we bought it) popped over to the house in the morning and showed us how the pool's pump system works. He also showed how the outside lights work. There are some sensors outside and the lights go on when it gets dark.

We've thought about changing to a salt water system in the pool. We decided to go ahead with it immediately, as it will save us buying the chlorines the pool uses at the moment. Saltwater pools are more popular than the basic chlorinated pools, but there's a bit of an initial cost involved so people don't change the system that easily.

I've also decided that since we're taking the roof off, why not raise it at the same time. The guys at the thatching company are looking into the costs, and will get back to me with a quote.
