Heikki and I spent the day working from home. Finally. It takes us about 40 minutes to work now, that we're back in Hout Bay. It was nice not to do the commute, although the road to work could not be more pictoresque.
On the way to work, we start off by driving 10 minutes on a winding road carved to the mountainside. There's a drop down to the windy, cold and rocky shores of the Atlantic Ocean. On this part of the drive, we pass some of the more exclusive areas of Cape Town. We then drive up a mountainside, often into a cloud. We drop down the mountain into Cape Town, missing the very centre of the city. Our journey continues away from the city on a motorway, first passing some suburbs and then some poor township areas. At this stretch of the troad, there are horse pulled carriages on the roads, as well as run down cars and people running over the busy, dusty roads. Just as the scenery starts to look a bit greener again, we reach work.
This must be one of the prettier commutes.
