Renovations, day 4

The builders are back. Even though they didn't come on Wednesday, the electricians did, after a two day delay. The electricians worked a good day, moving wires and fixing problems with our lights.

Most of the kitchen cabinets were stripped, and the wall between our kitchen and sitting room was removed, to make a big sitting room. Breaking the wall revealed that the floor is not level. The difference between our old kitchen floor, and that of the sitting room, is about 5 cm in height. The drop isn't even gradual. We need to figure out what to do with the floor, as the space is now one room and naturally the floor should be level. Even if we took all the tiles from the kitchen floor, and the layer of tiles under the first tiles, we can't get the floors to be the same level. We might have to break all the tiles and the concrete underneath, and then start again.

One of the electricians noticed our kitchen ceiling was wet. I went to investigate upstairs, and found out that a toilet was leaking in the main bathroom upstairs. We closed off the water supply and broke the kitchen ceiling partially. We'll need to break it properly, dry it, re-insulate, and patch the ceiling up.
