It was about 16 degrees Celsius today. It drizzled occasionally, but the sun shone warmly at other times. With the bright sun, it felt more like spring than winter. Finnish autumns are much darker and gloomier.
We visited one of the vineyards close by. The main building is an old Cape Dutch style house, a proper version of the type of house we’re buying. I wanted to get some ideas so we visited the house, which has been turned into a museum.
We then drove down south, to Simons Town/Boulders, a place where they have a penguin colony on the beach. We saw the eggs being laid earlier in the year, then we saw some hatchlings when Bill and Lorna were here, and now we saw the penguin juveniles, the baby blues.
There’s a Tibetan Tea House near the penguin colony. We’ve meant to drop by on several occasions, but the place is open for only around 4 hours per day. Up to now we haven’t ever been there when it’s been open, but this time we were spot on. Just when it was time to have lunch.
The food was gorgeous. It was spicy. Not the Indian way, when you get tears in your eyes, but more like the Christmassy way, when the food is prepared with lots of sweet spices.
I tasted salty, buttery Tibetan tea. It was quite wonderful, in a way. Not as nice as sweet chai, but definitely not as bas as it sounds.
