Post

Sometimes the fact that we live in a third world country really hits you. Things just don't work like they should. You never really know what to expect.

You need an urgent letter to be sent to you, and they guarantee it to be delivered from Europe in 3 days. That's 3 days from Europe to our local post office. And another 3 days for the notice to move the 2 mile distance from the post office into your post box.

We went shopping on Amazon.uk in January. The estimated arrival time of the package was around 7 days into this part of the world. But they don't take into account that this is Africa.

We were sent a couple of the DVDs separately, and they arrived in less than a week. In due course, the rest of the DVDs arrived. They had opened the box somewhere (customs or post office). I don't mind them opening the box, and I don't mind them asking us to pay tax on the DVDs - but why, oh why, does it need to take them an extra 4 weeks to do that?
