North of Cape Town

Today late in the morning we shook away the apathy that followed from the move to Tokai. We stopped on the way out of town to pick up Hille and headed north of Cape Town. We have not been that way before.

We drove throught the City Bowl, to N1 and from there to R27 along the coast. The city has been expanding that way over the years and covered the coast densly with housing areas. It came as a surpsie when the houses stopped abrubtly and the velt started after Melkboschstrand. Suddenly we were in the bush and the straight road continued through it seemingly for ever. We were out of Cape Town!

The sea was never too close to the road, so we turned to Yzerfontein
some 10 km west of the road. Tiny, pittoresk village with long beach and a concrete per sheltering the harbour from heavy waves.

India was asleep so we continued to Langebaan for a late luch. We chanced into Spinnakers Restaurantthat turned out to be a very good choise. Pizza for the kids and excellent sea food that Hille wanted to offer us. Kids had a run on the beach before we headed back.

We tried to get back to Bloubergstrand beach before sunset for good view of the Table Mountain, but it set just when we arrived there.
